The Construction Assistant will form an integral part of the Program Management Team and function in its achievement of operational objectives. Providing a solid insight and experience in construction management, the candidate will take a proactive approach in learning and performing current, existing operations and procedures, while interacting with the Client, and at all times making recommendations and implementing changes. The role is key to leading the Company toward securing quality supplies and materials at the most competitive costs in fulfillment of the life of the construction contract, ensuring delivery and quality targets as efficiently as possible.

Based in Rye Brook, NY, the Construction Assistant will report to the Construction Manager and will be responsible for assisting in all activities and aspects of the construction program in US and abroad. In addition, the Construction Assistant will help achieve objectives required to aid in US Government and international infrastructure and mixed-use proposals. The job will include reviewing RFP documents; RFI’s, specifications and drawings; processing Requests for Quotes; assisting in the selection of Suppliers and Vendors, aiding in communications with Vendors and Clients.

• Bachelor Degree (Architecture, Engineering, Construction Economics, Construction Management, Quality Control, Surveying)
• US Citizen
• Hold an Active Security Clearance
• Ability to pass background check to be eligible to apply for US Government Security Clearance
• Proficiency in MS Office applications. (Excel, Outlook, Word, as a minimum)
• Read blueprints to produce material take-offs for Estimates
• Experience in purchasing architectural products, interior finishes, and other construction materials and disciplines
• Strong negotiation skills essential
• Willingness to travel domestically (Washington, DC) on an as needed basis. International travel twice a year a possibility.
• Strong analytical skills essential
• Strong communication skills essential

• Experience with QuickBooks or Primavera or AutoCAD a plus
• Knowledge of US Government contracting Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) a plus

• Document Controls; letters, logs, drawings, transmittal reports, etc.
• Assist in coordination with the company’s external suppliers, with particular emphasis on the purchase of building materials
   and finished parts for production.
• Ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
• Communicate and maintain relationship with current suppliers and turnkey subcontractors who are aligned to the company's
• Identify new suppliers, agree to terms (and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate), including discount structures and
   volume rebates.
• Coordination of Purchase Order execution with our Technical, Logistics and Accounting Departments
• Foster close working relationships with all associated departments, including Sales, Engineering and Production, Business
• Continually search best purchasing options and drive down external spending
• Prepare comparative bids as required
• Timely process estimates; obtaining several blind quotes for increased competitiveness
• Select most competitive quote and recommend to Management
• Administration of PO’s, RFQ’s, RFI’s, Requests for Samples
• Prepare shipments of sample materials
• Verbal/written communications with Vendors and Client
• Verbal/written communications with Management
